‘Orion’ will feature an unrivalled combination of exceptionally high transport and load capacity, impressive lifting heights and green technology. The vessel will be built at COSCO in China and is set to be delivered in 2019.

‘Orion’ will be deployed by DEME’s subsidiary GeoSea for the construction of the largest offshore wind farms,  and will also be deployed by DEME’s subsidiary EverSea to service the oil and gas industry for decommissioning of offshore installations.

With a total installed power of 44,180 kW HLV ‘Orion’ will have superior DP3 capabilities and a high sailing speed of 12 knots. Moreover, she will be equipped with a high-tech crane with lifting capacity of 5,000 tonnes at more than 35 metres. The crane has a an unrivalled height of more than 170 m above sealevel, enabling her to install future wind Turbines as well as installation and removal of modules and other structures on existing platforms worldwide. The deck space has been maximized, 8000 m2, to provide exceptionally high transport and pay-load capacity; 30,000t. Consequently, the vessel can take the large and heavy jackets and topsides on deck  in a single shipment. With this unmatched combination of high deck load, DP3 and  5,000mt lifting capacity, HLV ‘Orion’ is a more than suitable vessel for decommissioning works.

Environmental considerations have been an important element of the vessel design. ‘Orion’ has dual fuel engines and can run on natural gas (LNG). It will have a Green Passport and Clean Design notation. It will also have other environmental innovations on board, such as a waste heat recovery system that converts heat from the exhaust gasses and cooling water to electrical energy.

The 216.5 metres long Orion, featuring DP3 capability, can accommodate a crew of up to 131 people extendable to 239.

This year EverSea is also launching the DP2 Heavy Lift Jack-up Vessel  (HLJV) APOLLO which will be fully oil and Gas compliant. The APOLLO featuring its 800 Ton capacity crane and overall leg length of 106.8m will be capable to operate in up to 65m water depth. APOLLO will be deployed for preparation works in decommissioning, can be used in rig less P&A mode and any type of installation work in Oil & Gas. APOLLO will be operating under UK flag.

Next to the already operational DP2 Heavy Lift Jack-up Vessel INNOVATION with 1500T lifting capacity, the fleet will be growing to 8 jack-ups and one heavy lift vessel.
