Decom North Sea may be based in Aberdeen, but the message I’ve been receiving loud and clear is that there are opportunities for our members, much further afield than the North Sea. As a result, we’ve been on our travels in the UK but we’ve also been on some international visits, trying to find out information about opportunities in other markets and discussing the experience and expertise of our membership.
Of course, the North Sea will provide decades of opportunity for our decommissioning supply chain, and we already know that the amount of current and future Well Plugging and Abandonment activity in the Southern North Sea (SNS) is also contributing to the workstream. However, my recent experience would indicate that the UK decommissioning industry will have the opportunity to get involved in much more than the UK continental shelf.
