Pioneers in electric plasma technology announce the appointment of new members to their Advisory Board. Mr. Nigel Jenkins and Mr. Iain Pittman join GA Drilling - a Slovak-based company that is developing plasma milling for well intervention and plug and abandonment. Both petroleum professionals have an extensive experience gained from working many years in the energy business.
Nigel Jenkins is an independent business improvement and business growth consultant whose most recent engagement was successfully leading, as CEO, Decom North Sea (DNS) to become the representative body for the UKCS decommissioning industry. He brings experience from a variety of sectors, including onshore and offshore oil, gas and process, nuclear, environmental, telecoms and manufacturing. Nigel said of his appointment; “The O&G industry now, more than ever, needs the application of disruptive technologies to reduce costs and improve performance. I am delighted to join the advisory board to help GA Drilling take its plasma technology into the well P&A and related markets to improve performance and future of the drilling industry”.
Iain Pittman is a senior well abandonment & intervention engineer, specialising in the implementation of solutions during the design and operational phases of the well lifecycle. Whilst engaged by Shell he was responsible for engineering design, primarily focused on abandonment and complex re-abandonment operations. Iain Pittman believes that: “Electric plasma energy in the form of PLASMABIT is a game changer in the well abandonment arena. Within the well abandonment process plasma energy has the ability to affect a step change in the pursuit of truly robust rig-less through tubing abandonments.”
The GA Drilling Advisory Board consists of leading industry experts from the drilling, robotics and mechatronics specialisms as well as business professionals. The new advisors bring expertise directly from the plasma technology’s future clients and will thus help its market entry and expansion. The technology is currently in a prototype stage with the first applications in preparation for onshore and offshore field tests planned in 2017.
