Experts in the decommissioning and salvage of oil, gas and other subsea structures are being invited to play their part in a major oceanic engineering conference taking place in Scotland next year.

High quality technical and scientific papers are being sought for the 60TH IEEE/MTS OCEANS Conference and Exhibition, which takes place in Aberdeen from June 19 to 22.

This is the second time that the MTS/IEEE OCEANS conference has taken place in Aberdeen, highlighting the importance and size of the oceanic industry to the region.  The OCEANS conference series brings together professionals and experts from across the global marine community involved in all aspects of the oceanic engineering, technology and science industry, and will also feature a series of Special Topics specific to the Aberdeen meeting, including decommissioning and salvage.

The conference organisers are calling for abstract submissions reflecting all aspects of decommissioning and salvage from the marine environment, including technology, marine science, regulation, and operation.

The closing date for abstract submissions is 16 January 2017.

Prof John Watson of Aberdeen University and Co-Chair of OCEANS17 Aberdeen, said “I am delighted that we have this opportunity, within the OCEANS conference, to highlight the expertise and pioneering work being carried out in the UK in decommissioning and salvage in the offshore oil and gas industry.”
