As Scotland's oil and gas industry continues to adapt to current challenges, the Adopt an Apprentice programme has been designed to support modern apprentices.
Adopt an Apprentice (AAA) was set up by the Scottish Government and is managed by our partners Skills Development Scotland (SDS).
Since January 2015 the AAA programme has included special measures to support modern apprentices (MAs) made redundant in the oil and gas sector.
The programme has been designed to help MAs find alternative employment with an alternative employer, allowing them to complete their apprenticeship.
The apprentice's training provider can offer support to ensure the transition and induction processes are undertaken smoothly.
How your company can get involved
Companies willing to employ an apprentice made redundant from the oil and gas industry can benefit from a one off financial incentive payment of £5000.
That will include discretionary support for MAs from the wider supply chain undertaking engineering and engineering construction apprenticeship frameworks where there is evidence that the redundancy has been caused by the current downturn in the oil and gas industry.
The grant is classified as State Aid and will be paid under the de minimis block exemption of European Commission Regulation (EU) No 1407/2013.

Working together for Scotland's oil and gas industry
The AAA programme is just one way that cooperation between industry and public organisation can help overcome the current challenges faced by the sector in Scotland.
Scotland's Energy Jobs Taskforce has been created to help facilitate this collaboration.
Chaired by Lena Wilson, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, the taskforce brings together operators, supply chain, public sector, industry and trade union bodies to work together to support those facing redundancy and to offer support across the industry in Scotland.
Much of this support, including one-to-one redundancy support for 1300 people, has been delivered through the very successful PACE) rogramme and work continues to ensure every single individual displaced or at risk of redundancy is fully supported.
We continue to support the work of Scotland's Energy Jobs Taskforce and to help Scotland's oil and gas supply chain companies meet current challenges and make the most of new opportunities.
